Centrair lounge priority pass

Travel Information

Wed, 6 Sept 2023

At Japan's Centrair (Chubu International Airport), Priority Pass holders can access lounges situated in three locations within the restricted area of Terminal 1 for international flights, and two general areas that domestic travelers can use. These range from the KAL Lounge operated by Korean Air to the Umizen Sorazen restaurant, and even a relaxation spot where you can enjoy a panoramic bath while watching planes.

Please note that as of March 26, 2023, "Ethan Stowell Pizza & Pasta" has closed. However, starting June 20, 2023, the Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 1 for international flights began accepting the Priority Pass.

This article will introduce the location, directions, and operating hours of each lounge at Centrair that accepts the Priority Pass.

  • Priority Pass is accepted at four locations in the restricted area of Terminal 1 for international flights, and two general areas available for both domestic and international flights.
  • The Terminal 2, completed in 2019, does not have any lounges.

Lounges Exclusive to Terminal 1 International Flight Users

Firstly, we'll introduce three Priority Pass lounges located in Terminal 1 for international flights. All of these lounges are located in the restricted area after passing through immigration and security checks. Therefore, they can only be used by those scheduled for international departures from Terminal 1.

Korean Air's KAL Lounge

The KAL Lounge is located in the restricted area of Terminal 1 for international flights. Since it's in the post-immigration and security check area, only international flight passengers can use it.

Though Centrair's KAL Lounge has limited seating, it's typically not crowded. However, during overlapping times with Korean Air flights, some congestion might occur. The lounge generally maintains a tranquil ambiance. Light snacks like bread and rice balls are available, along with complimentary alcoholic beverages. It's a definite spot for relaxation before your flight.

  • Operating Hours: 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
  • Days Closed: None (open all year round)
  • Guest Policy: Up to two guests per cardholder
  • Guest Fee: Based on the conditions of the credit card linked to the Priority Pass
  • Children's Policy: Free entry for children under 2

Centrair Global Lounge

The lounge is located in the restricted area of Terminal 1 for international flights. It currently also functions as a lounge for airlines like China Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Tianjin Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Philippine Airlines. Additionally, as of September 2023, it serves as JAL's lounge while their Sakura Lounge is temporarily closed.

Owing to this, the Global Lounge boasts more luxurious interiors and is of higher quality than other lounges. It's the most recommended lounge for international passengers.

  • Operating Hours: 7:30 am - 3:45 pm (subject to change based on flight operations)
  • Guest Policy: One guest per cardholder
  • Guest Fee: Based on the conditions of the credit card linked to the Priority Pass
  • Children's Policy: Free entry for children under 2
  • Other: Entry might be restricted based on lounge occupancy

Plaza Premium Lounge Nagoya

The renowned Plaza Premium Lounge has now made its debut in Centrair, marking its first venture in Japan. Located near gate 18 in the restricted area of Terminal 1 for international flights, it's positioned in the departure area post-security check.

Though Priority Pass had earlier faced criticism regarding its collaboration with Plaza Premium Lounge, they have recently been reestablishing their partnership. Among the lounges that accept Priority Pass, this is the most recommended airport lounge.

  • Operating Hours: 7:00 am - 3:45 pm
  • Guest Policy: Not specified (as per Priority Pass official site)
  • Guest Fee: Based on the conditions of the credit card linked to the Priority Pass
  • Children's Policy: Free entry for children under 2
  • Other: Entry might be restricted based on lounge occupancy

Umizen Sorazen

Located on the 3rd floor of the 1st Terminal's international departures area, close to Gate 19. This is the departure area after security screening, so only international flight passengers can use it.

A wide range of dishes from seafood to steak, eel and other set menus is available. Light meals are also on offer. At this restaurant, Priority Pass holders receive a set menu worth 3,400 yen for free. Of course, accompanying guests receive the same deal.

However, if the accompanying person has a paid Priority Pass, it's worth checking if there's a benefit based on the companion charge. For instance, the companion charge for the Priority Pass linked with American Express is $35 from October 1, 2023. Considering the set menu costs 3,400 yen (equivalent to $23), it doesn't seem like much of a benefit.

As of September 2023, they generally operate daily, but operating hours can change depending on the international flight schedule.

  • Operating Hours: 7:15 AM - 10:45 PM (Based on international flight operations)
  • Companion Usage Terms: Up to 3 companions per cardholder
  • Companion Charges: Based on the credit card linked with Priority Pass

Lounges Accessible for Both Domestic and International Flights

Next, introducing lounges available in the general area before immigration and security checks where Priority Pass can be used. This facility can be used by both domestic and international flight passengers.

Kutsurogi-Dokoro

Introduced as a new addition from April 5, 2023, it's the first spa facility for Priority Pass holders. Located on the 4th floor of Centrair's 1st Terminal. As it's before security, it's accessible regardless of domestic or international flights, and can be used both upon departure and arrival.

Priority Pass holders get a discount equivalent to 3,400 yen including tax on the final bill. The "SOLA SPA Kaze no Yu" inside is the first bath in Japan with a view of airplanes. After its renewal in 2023, it's more sauna-centric, surely satisfying sauna enthusiasts.

  • Operating Hours: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM

The Pike Brewing Restaurant & Craft Beer Bar

This too was newly added as a facility for Priority Pass users on April 5, 2023. Located on the 3rd floor of the "Flight of Dreams" complex between the 1st and 2nd Terminals. As it's in the general area before security, it's usable for both domestic and international flights, and also for arriving flights.

Presenting a Priority Pass offers a 3,400 yen (inclusive of tax) discount on the restaurant bill. Up to two companions can be registered.

The Pike Brewing Restaurant & Craft Beer Bar was established in 1989 in Seattle, USA as a craft beer maker. Here, you can enjoy genuine IPA beers with American cuisine. It's more recommended to use after arriving flights!

  • Operating Hours: 11:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Open Daily)
  • Companion Usage Terms: Up to 2 companions per cardholder
  • Companion Charges: Based on the credit card linked with Priority Pass

No Lounge in the 2nd Terminal

While Centrair has the 1st and 2nd Terminals, there are no airline or credit card lounges in the 2nd Terminal.

For those planning to use the 2nd Terminal, you might consider moving to the 1st Terminal or trying the "The Pike Brewing Restaurant & Craft Beer Bar" nearby in the Flight of Dreams. The 2nd Terminal is a 10-minute walk from the 1st Terminal.

Airlines using the 2nd Terminal:

  • Jetstar Japan (GK/JJP)
  • Jeju Air (7C/JJA)
  • Tigerair Taiwan (IT/TTW)
  • Hong Kong Express (UO/HKE)

Points to Note Regarding Centrair's Lounges

There are some points to consider when using Centrair's lounges.

Ethan Stowell Pizza & Pasta is now Closed

Ethan Stowell Pizza & Pasta, located inside Flight of Dreams, a complex centered around Boeing 787 exhibits, had been widely used by Priority Pass holders. With a Priority Pass, a menu worth 3,400 yen, including tax, was free. Being in the general area before security meant it was beneficial for both domestic and international flights.

However, Ethan Stowell Pizza & Pasta closed down on March 26, 2023, and Priority Pass is no longer applicable.
